Apparently in the bush the amount of rain you get is a big deal. I never really thought about it until I married a farmer. Last night we had phenomenal rain - the most I have ever experienced since living at Monogorilby. In fact, it was the most amount of rain that Luke can ever remember in his lifetime out here! We had 6.5 inches of rain in around 4 hours - it poured and poured! These are the images that make very happy farmer husbands - dams full to the brim (and overflowing):
These don't:
The force of the water running down the gully was enough to bust the dam bank and send water flooding down the paddock and onto the road. Luke was devastated. It will be a big and expensive job to repair.
And the water that ran here has actually pulled out fence posts! I guess that's the quick way to pull down a fence ready for a new one!
We have spent the morning riding around the properties on the 4-wheeler checking the dams and the damage. We got bogged quite a few times and absolutely covered in mud! I haven't had that much fun for ages. But I'm paying for it now - everything hurts especially my belly! LOL So nice to get the rain though.
Thanks for stopping by....
